no troops solidarity action logoWe have endorsed this week of protests demanding "No War on Venezuela! No Troops on Our Streets!" We’re urging our members and supporters to take part in a local action wherever possible. If you’re not near a listed event, please consider connecting with friends and fellow activists to organize your own vigil, banner drop, protest, or teach-in this week, or within 24 hours of any major U.S. escalation.

So far, 43 people have been killed by US missiles targeting small boats off the Venezuela coast. The US government claims these vessels are running drugs but has provided no evidence in support. It is much more likely, given the size of the military buildup, that the US wants to spark another war for oil, a policy that only benefits the arms industry and their favorite politicians, investors, and generals.

Meanwhile, in cities across the US, agents and troops under Department of Homeland Security command continue raids and mass arrests, most recently in Charlotte, NC. Detainees are being assaulted, mistreated, and held in defiance of court order.

This week, please join in a local action to say NO WAR in Venezuela, in Colombia, or against our neighbors on our own streets. Click here to find an event in your area and for information on online presentations.

And please keep an eye on your email for alerts about actions next month focusing on the December anniversary of the death of Simon Bolivar, "The Great Emancipator.”

Thank you for everything you are doing for peace and democracy!
