Support Alliance for Democracy this #GivingTuesday
Working together,
we can end corporate rule

For nearly 30 years, the Alliance for Democracy’s mission has been "to create true democracy, to end corporate domination of politics, economics, and media, and to build a just and sustainable society for nature and all people.” We’ve taken on big business and big money at every level of government.

We’ve helped small towns in New Hampshire, Maine, Oregon and California claim the right to water for people and nature and not for bottled water. We’ve organized Maine towns to successfully demand their right to local food in the face of corporate domination of agriculture.

We’ve worked on city and state level campaigns for clean elections and public banking.

We’ve been part of the national movement to amend the Constitution to say that corporations aren’t people and money isn’t speech—so needed now as we move into the midterm elections.

And we’ve worked for peacebuilding world-wide, demanding that our legislators use our tax money for human needs, not endless war.

It’s quite a legacy.

And we must continue. This #GivingTuesday, we ask that you keep the Alliance going strong with a donation to support our work, including our journal, Justice Rising. This coming year we are planning one issue on corporate agriculture vs. local, sustainable agriculture, and another on fascism vs. democracy.

We are living in dire times. Free speech and due process are under attack, the safety net is being shredded, and economic inequality is reaching new levels. We are living science experiments on the long-term consequences of exposure to PFAS, microplastics, and other toxins as Congress, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Food and Drug Administration put corporate profits over our human right to health.

We are resisting! We’ve demonstrated with crowds of thousands. We’ve stood on street corners with signs denouncing militarism and reaped hundreds of supportive honks and thumbs-up. We’ve worked to democratize the systems we and the planet need to thrive. And we've called Congress members to support needed legislation.

This kind of people power fuels a movement that will not be defeated. We are committed to the vision of the late Ronnie Dugger, a founding member of the Alliance, who wrote “The issue is not issues, the issue is the system.”

Thank you for everything you have done this year for democracy. Now please do one more thing. Please give as generously as you can on #Giving Tuesday. And please consider becoming a monthly or quarterly sustainer—your steady support greatly helps with planning and budgeting!

With great appreciation,

David Delk, Nancy Price, Ruth Caplan, Steve Scalmanini, Joan Horton, Ethan Scarl, and Vikki Savee, Alliance National Council, and Barbara Clancy, National Campaign Coordinator
